What is Kevlar?
Kevlar is a polyamide synthesised by Stephanie Kwolek. Its fibres consist of long chains of polyparaphenylene terephthalamide, a molecule that withstands high temperatures and can be used to build equipment that is lightweight, strong - 5 times stronger than steel - and unaffected by corrosion.
Kevlar in simple terms for us is a synthetic polymer with high tensile strength and elasticity and withstands high temperatures. In the cable there is a series of yellow wires that protect the fibre optic environment. This is used precisely to protect the fibre, to absorb the mechanical frictional stress (N) when passing the batten through a pipe and the external pressure (N) when handling the cable.
