Guide to getting good DVB-T TV reception

When there are TV signal problems in a home, one of the causes of the anomalies is the need for an antenna amplifier. The degradation of DTT signals is very frequent.

Other elements that can influence a bad signal are the connectors, passive elements such as distributors, the coaxial cable, its quality and length, etc. Poor signals are frequent in buildings where the antenna is far from the TV connection socket, homes where the signal is spread over many rooms, etc.

· The use of amplifiers

Signal boosters can be both outdoor and indoor. In the case of indoor amplifiers, they are installed in a simple way, using the sockets near the TV set. It is advisable to place the amplifiers in the closest socket to the source of the signal. There, the signal will be purer and less degraded, and the amplification will be more effective.

· Examples of DTT TV installations

An individual installation in a normal house has an integrated amplifier with terrestrial and satellite signals combined in a single coaxial cable. The amplifier inside the house has three outputs, and generates two branches of sockets for two floors, the first and the second. In addition, the main socket of the house, where the satellite receiver is installed, can be connected.

· DTT SAT receivers

It is perfectly possible to install a DTT SAT receiver for each of the televisions you have at home. To receive high-definition channels, it is necessary to have specific HD DTT-SAT receivers. The receivers that are activated in each Autonomous Community will only be able to receive the associated regional channels.

· The antenna

The receiving antenna has to be placed high up, on a firm surface, with enough space for orientation manoeuvres. Try to ensure that some elements of the environment, such as buildings, trees, walls, etc., are far away from the antennas, as this will hinder the reception of the signal.

Once the antenna is placed, make sure that it is securely attached to a mast or similar, and that it is raised vertically from the ground.
