What is a power supply used for?
A power supply for a mast amplifier is used to inject current into a mast amplifier through the coaxial cable.
Mast amplifiers need power to amplify the signal. If the mast amplifier is not connected to a power source, it not only does not amplify the signal, but also does not let the television signal pass by. Therefore whenever there is a mast amplifier in an installation, we will have to install a power supply that operates at the same voltage as the mast amplifier.
Most mast amplifiers work at 24 Vdc, but those with IF amplification or mix usually work at 12 Vdc. Therefore we recommend checking the voltage of our mast amplifier, before purchasing the power supply.
